My Radiation Treatment is NOW scheduled!!

   Just heard from Lahey - that my radiation treatment has now been finalized and I will be headed there on Monday, May 4th -- to meet with my team.   It will the the One Time Radiation treatment and I am really excited to begin!    It will be a 30 minute dose of radiation and I should tolerate it well.  All three of my specialists will be there and I'm feeling very positive.

  Update -- November 14, 2016 -- It's now been 19 months since I started this battle and I'm doing okay -- mostly taking taking each day as they come.  My brain tumor is long gone, thanks to the Radiation I had done way back on May 4th, 2015.    The specialized type is called SRS Stereotactic Radiosurgery,  also known as Cyberknife and it worked perfectly for me.   It was totally painless and I've had no recurrence - the procedure went very well and I had not side effects or any issues with it.   I'm still treating the Lung Cancer, currently with Opdivo (an Immunotherapy Drug) FDA approved for Lung Cancer in October of 2015 -- so much has changed in the past several months, but I'm still fighting hard and determined to WIN this battle!!

   On another happy note - I met with the wonderful landscaper today (Jane's Perennial Garden's) and she will be doing our yard for us -- Starting soon!   She said I might be surprised to come home one day and see it all done or in process!   She was delightful and I will look forward to sharing pictures of the new design.   Flowers make me so happy!

Friday - April 24th -- Dana Farber!

    Two of my dearest friends -- Julie (Thibodeau) Bedard and Patty (Riley) Thibodeau will be taking me into Boston for a 3 hour - Second Opinion Team Meeting.  I love these girls and we've been friends for over 50 years!

    Although, I am very pleased with my treatment options and Lahey Oncology/Brain Team -- It will NEVER hurt to do this too.   Although I have opted NOT to have ANY brain surgery based on the opinion of the Lahey Team.   The risks NOW outweigh the benefits!

   We will go with the Radiation we are already preparing for!   And I think that will be followed with Chemo with Dr. Rajitha Sunkara, MD at Lahey Gloucester!   I loved her and was VERY Impressed, as was my Mom.

Tuesday 4/21/15 

•  All done for today PET SCAN WAS BETTER than I expected.   Note for those results and the radiation  will be next -- 7-10 days and it may be done in Burlington.

•  I am being prepped...had my IV - the tech got it on the first try - YAY!!   My Nuclear meds and drink?? That's it for now - I will be glowing!! Maybe a pretty purple color.

• With Hubby - appointment is coming up.    We were early?   You never can predict the traffic??

      

•   Took about 3 hours all in all the the prep!   I wore my "Mask" for about 10 minutes -- did okay, it's on tight!  Hope it's easier when I have the Radiation???

Day # 1 --The journey begins!!!

  Leaving soon with Brian for 6 hours of Team Meeting's - Lahey Health - Burlington.   By the time we get back we should have lots of details on my treatment plans and goals!

  I feel totally overwhelmed, but am ready to start!!    Thanks for your thoughts and support!!   I am going to FIGHT hard!!
